Facebook is a community portal that provides open two-way communication and encourages community participation. Facebook is one of the stronger ways to get involved and connect with your government online.

Twitter
Twitter is a communication service which allows posting of 140 character short messages called "Statuses". Baltimore City primarily uses Twitter as a notification system which gets messages to you quickly via computer, mobile phone and other devices. There are hundreds of ways to send and receive Twitter messages on a broad range of devices. Using Twitter to disseminate information allows the City to reach out to the widest possible online audience.

YouTube
YouTube is a video publishing website. The YouTube website provides social features including comment discussions and video replies. This is the same concept as Facebook and Twitter but with video as the primary communication method. Baltimore City uses YouTube to publish video online.

SMS/Email Alerts
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced a new citywide email and text alert subscription service for Baltimore City residents to receive important updates and alerts from city agencies.  The new service begins first with the Baltimore Police Department and will provide important text and email alerts for issues related to public safety and crime.  Residents can sign up to Baltimore Police Department alerts by individual police districts and neighborhoods if desired.
